Couple trades two homes for the best of both worlds at King Edward VII Estate

Having lived between their town house in Harpenden and country retreat in rural Wales, Sean Rose and his wife Coleen, both 58, decided it was time to find their forever home and combine the best of their two juxtaposing lifestyles.

The vibrant community on offer in Harpenden was something the couple did not want to leave behind, but they also enjoyed the tranquillity they had at their country retreat in Wales. Hastened by the Covid-19 pandemic, they decided it was time to combine their two lifestyles and found exactly what they were looking for at King Edward VII Estate in West Sussex.

As a retired estate agent, Coleen set about finding a home that offered everything they wanted in one place. King Edward VII Estate met their requirements, and after an initial viewing the couple were instantly attracted to the lifestyle and homes on offer.

Sean said: “Our main property was in Harpenden, where we enjoyed the social aspect. We also owned a home in rural Wales, which we loved to escape to. We did not want to give up on either lifestyle but were tired of going between the two, so when we found King Edward VII Estate, it felt like the perfect opportunity to have it all”.

A full-time Aviation Consultant, Sean also added: “The Estate is the perfect destination for my work. We are surrounded by national airports which makes getting to any of them really easy, whilst the commute into London remains convenient with trains into the city in under an hour”.

Coleen echoed this sentiment, saying: “The location works well, not just for Sean’s work but also for our lifestyles. We are only thirty minutes from the coast and have immediate access to the South Downs, with lively towns just a short distance away, it really added up as the perfect destination for us”.

The quality of the new homes on offer was what really caught Sean and Coleen’s eye. Coleen explains: “We were drawn to the large windows, period features and especially the balconies that came with properties in the historic sanatorium.  We loved the period features but were equally impressed with the modernity and high quality of finish, not just in the kitchen, but throughout the apartment. It was great to have contemporary appliances within the historic building”.

Sean was also impressed with the wider amenities and facilities at the Estate, saying: “The resident facilities have been great. You book your time and slot online and then you get to use the gym and pool privately, which is an excellent luxury to have especially with current health and safety measures. We also love going for walks around the grounds; they are so well maintained and are just brilliant to have on your doorstep”.

In the future Sean and Coleen are excited about the prospect of being able to host and show off their new property to friends and family, especially as the Estate has luxurious communal spaces and guest suites which residents can book. Coleen added “We can’t wait to have our son come down; being able to have him stay is something we greatly look forward to. We can’t wait to show off our new home.”
