Couple Take First Step onto Bristol Property Ladder Thanks to City & Country

Lauren Fletcher (24) and her partner Logan Chapple (27) were just weeks away from moving into their new apartment in Bristol when unfortunately, everything fell through. Left back at square one, the couple visited City & Country’s Factory No.1 development in Bedminster, reassured by the award-winning company’s reputation for high quality and reliability.

Impressed with what they saw, the couple wasted no time securing a spacious two-bedroom conversion apartment within Regent House.

Consultant Lauren commented: “We had previously been renting a two-bedroom rural property outside Bath and were set to move into a new build home. When this didn’t happen, we visited Factory No.1 the next day and immediately fell in love with one of the converted apartments they had available. It was so different to any apartment we had ever seen and so beautifully finished with stunning original features – we knew it was exactly the right place for us.”

Bristol, and its cultural hub of Bedminster, provided the perfect location for the couple to move to, with its thriving community and abundance of local activities.

“Bristol has that real city feel, but with rural surroundings that are easily accessible. Cities like London are just too busy – there’s no escape. But here there are a vast range of options within thirty minutes of Bedminster – spending a day in the countryside or shopping in the city. We don’t feel like we have made any compromises. We love just being able to walk out of the front door and be totally spontaneous: there’s good food and craft ales on every corner, with plenty of local events and loads of green space just minutes away.  There’s nothing more we could ask for.”

Situated in the former Grade II listed tobacco factory, City & Country’s development Factory No.1 stood out to the couple for numerous reasons. Lauren continues: “Our apartment has the most lovely and spacious open plan kitchen and dining area, which is perfect for hosting, and we love the incredibly high-quality fixtures and fittings. The stone worktops and brass handles really add to the overall feel, and the finish is just outstanding! We were fortunate that our apartment came with a parking permit – something unusual in the city centre. This was extremely important for me as I work long hours and having a permit means that parking isn’t an issue when I get home.”

Buying a two-bedroom apartment was also important for Lauren’s hybrid working set-up. She commented: “Being able to turn the second bedroom into a home office was ideal for us.  I think it’s valuable to create an environment you love to work from and I now have a comfortable workspace with excellent views over the city.”

Each individually designed home at Factory No.1 benefits from ultrafast broadband, with select apartments featuring balconies or terraces, all with access to the beautifully landscaped gardens providing a hidden oasis in the heart of the city. Some homes include undercroft parking with electric charging points, with the securely gated development also providing 400 cycle spaces and an on-site concierge service.

Lauren adds: “We absolutely love that there is a concierge on hand at Factory No.1. We both work fulltime, so life is busy and it’s good to know there’s someone around during the day. They’re extremely helpful with receiving deliveries and the added level of security gives us great peace of mind. Our dedicated parking spot and permit is also something we often like to shout about and is a one of the many reasons as to why we love to live here. The community feel of the development has also been a big bonus for us. There are lots of other first-time buyers and young professionals here, but also many people who have downsized into Bristol, creating a friendly multi-generational community.”

Since the day they moved in, the high-quality conversion of the traditional stone-built factory has convinced the couple that City & Country matches their ideal requirements for a home. “We always thought we’d be in our first place for a couple of years, but now we’re thinking we’ll definitely stay longer (and save up for our next, bigger City & Country property!)”

Jennifer Rhodes-Finch, Head of Marketing at City & Country, added: “Factory No. 1 is proving to be a popular choice with first-time buyers as the development ticks all of their boxes with its central location, communal garden space and high-quality build. There is a brilliant new community emerging here, as residents discover they have everything they could need right on their doorstep. Our safe, gated development is ideal for city living, and we’re so pleased that Lauren and Logan have enjoyed starting their homebuying journey with us.”
