City & Country has increased its investment in its technical team this year to drive forward its new housing targets and growth ambitions. Led by Technical Director Adam Towers, who joined City & Country in late 2024, the technical team has grown with the recruitment of an additional six staff members since the beginning of the year to form a strong team of 12.
In expanding the technical team, City & Country has brought in expert technical knowledge to complement its award-winning design and architect teams. City & Country plans to double its turnover to £200m and triple the number of homes completed each year.
The expansion of the technical team signals a move within City & Country to streamline the early stages of development. Specialised roles have been created within the team to ensure a smooth transition between the pre-construction and design teams within the wider business.
New hires include Amanda Daly, Regional Technical Manager, who brings with her a wealth of experience with 26 years in the industry. Amanda has worked across site management and technical roles, now leading the delivery of conversion and new build projects. Amanda has worked across the contracting and development industry at Head of Technical, Senior Technical manager and Technical Manager level, dealing with various construction methods and scopes, ranging from Refurbishment, Commercial, RC Frame and Modern Methods of Construction. Amanda has also a wealth of technical experience including BSR, new building regulation compliance with a clear focus on buildability and cost.
Daniel Condren, Strategic Design Manager, will also drive forward the delivery of new homes and conversion developments. Daniel has been with City & Country for around nine years and has over 15 years previous experience working with both developers and technical consultancies, moving into the role from Regional Design Manager to help strengthen the link between the pre-construction, planning departments and the technical team and drive technical efficiencies, standards and regulation compliance through the early design stages.
Also supporting the team is Regional Design Manager Lee Kirtland, who brings two decades of experience in design and technical roles within the residential development sector, and has worked with City & Country for over three years. Lee is responsible for the delivery of business across the East region, including its Priory Fields, Sanderling Reach and Manningtree Park developments in Essex, as well as the King’s Collection, King Edwards VII Estate – West Sussex.
Adam Towers, Technical Director for City & Country said: “With major government regulations, including the upcoming Future Homes Standard, set to reshape the housing sector, it’s vital that technical detail is baked in from the very start of a development. City & Country excels in its design and architect-led approach to development, and by expanding our technical team we can complement this with a strong knowledge of the technical specification and detail of housebuilding. Our growing team brings strong experience from across the industry, enabling us to take on even more and we are looking forward to getting stuck into new projects throughout the year.”
Amanda Daily adds: “It’s been so rewarding to join a team that places such a strong emphasis on the quality and design of a home. City & Country’s blend of heritage restoration and new-build development offers an opportunity like no other to be creative with our technical design. It’s a great time to be joining as the business looks to grow, and I’m proud to be on that journey.”
City & Country’s new technical team has delivered the technical design for schemes across the southeast, including at Priory Fields in Wellwick, Manningtree, and Mersea, all in Essex, alongside a flagship transformation of a former printworks in Bath.
The team will also be responsible for future phases of its heritage conversion of a Grade II listed hospital in Wandsworth, The 1840.
