Set in the grounds of the 17th Century Grade II* Listed 'Bailey Hall', the Mews were carefully designed to enhance the setting of this Listed building in the Hertford Conservation Area.
Prior to acquisition by City & Country, the site was an unattractive car park with some derelict outbuildings on it. Planning permission was obtained and six new two-bedroom cottages following the styles of the traditional mews houses were built.
Due to the sites prominence and location within the Conservation Area the Local Planning and Conservation Officers were both consulted on all aspects of the scheme and extreme care was taken to ensure that the design was in keeping.
In 2000 the site was awarded a prestigious 'Hertford Civic Society Award'.
