Supporting a Place Where People Truly Belong
For over 50 years, Acorn Village has been a vibrant and inclusive community in North Essex, providing residential care, supported living and lifelong opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. Founded by a group of dedicated parents in 1975, Acorn Village was created to ensure their children could grow into adulthood surrounded by care, dignity and opportunity. Today, it remains a place where people are defined by who they are, not by their disability. Set within 14 beautiful acres, Acorn Village is much more than a care provider. It is a community built on the belief of “People First, Disability Second”, where independence, creativity, friendship and joy are part of everyday life.
Why Acorn Village Matters to Us
At Manningtree Park, we are creating a community designed to foster connection, wellbeing and a true sense of belonging. The philosophy at Acorn Village closely aligns with our own values, placing people at the heart of everything we do.
Acorn Village's person-centred, relationship-led approach sees the whole individual. Inspired by Steiner principles and shaped by the love and determination of its founding families, the charity supports emotional, social, spiritual and physical wellbeing through tailored care, creative therapies and meaningful opportunities. Their team’s unwavering dedication ensures every resident is supported to grow, achieve and thrive, no matter how big or small the milestone.
Our Ongoing Commitment
We are delighted to have already undertaken a number of fundraising initiatives in support of Acorn Village, bringing together colleagues, partners and the wider community at Manningtree Park to make a meaningful difference. From organised fundraising events to team-led challenges and community activities, the enthusiasm and generosity shown has been inspiring.
Our support, however, extends beyond financial donations.
We are committed to building a lasting relationship with Acorn Village, offering practical support, raising awareness of their remarkable work, encouraging volunteering opportunities, and exploring ways our teams can contribute skills, time and resources to benefit residents and staff alike.
