The Abundance of Period Features were Quickly Noticed at The General by James Knight
James’ family has a background in property development and he quickly noticed the abundance of period features that the converted hospital offers. He comments:
“City & Country has that personal touch; they are looking for that quirky aspect to make a special development. In my apartment there are unusual angles and unique features, such as an exposed arch, that makes the build different and interesting. The courtyard, complete with the original fountain, is a striking feature and I’m looking forward to walking around the area this summer. I actually spend more time at home now; it’s a great place to relax. The high ceilings of my flat let in a lot of light, it’s very well finished and no room is the same.”
The General is moments from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, yet benefits from tranquil waterside position, giving the development a sense of peace and serenity. This was a major attraction for
James, who continues:
“The General is based in the city centre but it feels quite secluded; in five minutes, I’m in the thick of it. I love that I have a short commute to work, plus I can walk 10 minutes to College Green and get a bus up to Clifton. I’m also close to Bristol Temple Meads and I work in London once a week, so that’s very convenient for me. There’s a lot to do here; if I want to drive to the galleries I can be there in about four minutes and the local pub, The Golden Guinea, is brilliant.”
James used Help to Buy to purchase his property, and he was grateful for the advice and information he received throughout the process. He says:
“It was quite a complicated process because of the Help to Buy scheme and from that perspective City & Country were very good. I knew what was happening at every stage of the way. The sales team kept me posted on everything, like time scales and all of the contracts we had to go through. The times they had available for appointments were accommodating to my work schedule, so it was easy for me to plan.”
