CITY & COUNTRY LAUNCHES INAUGURAL LABOUR PARTY CONFERENCE FRINGE PANEL TO DEBATE WHETHER LABOUR’S PLANS TO UNLOCK PLANNING WILL GET BRITAIN BUILDING?
City & Country will for the first time host a panel discussion at this year’s Labour Party Conference, taking place on Tuesday 24th September at 1pm in Liverpool, titled: Will Labour’s plans to unlock the planning system “get Britain building”?
The event will see City & Country’s Simon Vernon-Harcourt join Liz Hamson, Editor of BE News and former Property Week Editor; Josh Dean MP for Hertford and Stortford; and Kate Faulker, Chair of the Home Buying and Selling Council.
The panel will discuss Labour’s ambitious plans to ‘rebuild’ Britain to deliver 1.5m homes over the next parliamentary period and support the built environment and construction sector to build high-quality homes for the here and now.
A must-attend event for the industry, the panel will look to address the lack of capacity in local authority planning departments, and how local authorities and new officers will form part of the solution as well as unlocking greenbelt land and more sustainable homes for generations to come.
Simon Vernon-Harcourt, Design & Planning Director at City & Country, comments: “To ‘get Britain building,’ the government must first start by loosening the brakes on planning. The Labour Party has made some promising progress to support housing delivery, but this panel will aim to spark lively discussion on how we get there and what changes need to be made to create high-quality sustainable housing and solve our country’s dire housing crisis.”
The event is free to attend, and tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis.
The event will take place in Meeting Room 4, Premier Meetings Liverpool Albert Dock, Albert Dock, Liverpool, L3 4AD. Attendees can register via the following link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/will-labours-plans-to-unlock-the-planning-system-get-britain-building-tickets-999309701217.
