All signs point to West Mersea for buyer at Sanderling Reach

Having grown up in West Mersea, 56-year-old Katie was drawn back to her hometown for a myriad of reasons, including some exceptional coincidences that she couldn’t ignore. These signs led Katie and her partner, Adrian, 53, to be among the first to reserve a home at City & Country’s latest development in West Mersea, Sanderling Reach.

Katie explains: “I lived on Mersea Island throughout my childhood, and I had an idyllic life here. In 2013, my brother passed away, so as a family we returned to a particular stretch of the beach to scatter his ashes. The following year I was on a walk at that part of the beach when I spotted a boat docked close by called ‘Kate’ – something only my brother ever called me. It felt like he was watching over me.

“A few years later I was showing my partner, Adrian, the beach, and saw the marketing signs for Sanderling Reach – they were using a photo of the boat called ‘Kate’ which I’d seen in 2014! It led us to look into the development, and I discovered that the property on Seaview Avenue which City & Country had bought to gain site access was actually the home I was born in. There was too much connecting us to the development, so we registered our interest.”

Sanderling Reach is an exclusive new collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes in the Essex coastal town, just minutes from the beachfront. It offers tranquil open green spaces, tree-lined streets and external architecture that is thoughtfully designed to complement the surrounding area. Launched in February 2022, Sanderling Reach is proving to be incredibly popular with buyers looking to live a coastal lifestyle with phase one already over 50% sold.

Adrian says: “Every time we’ve visited West Mersea I’ve fallen in love with the town a bit more. We both love walking, and the close-knit community and village feel is unlike anything I’ve experienced before.”

“We had been looking at other developments, but nothing stood out to us like this. We visited City & Country’s other development, St Osyth Priory, just a few miles away, and upon seeing the exceptional quality of homes they had built there, we knew that we would love Sanderling Reach.”

Internally, each home has been individually designed to offer the very best in contemporary living. Finished to the highest specification, beautifully appointed kitchens are fully fitted with stylish Silestone worktops and integrated appliances. For those working from home, such as Katie’s son, superfast broadband and well-considered power points makes doing so stress-free. All homes also enjoy outdoor space in the form of private gardens.

Katie continues: “We’ve bought a four-bedroom detached house which provides plenty of space for our wider families. We’re looking forward to it being a sociable home too, with open plan living spaces that will be perfect for entertaining our friends.

“We’re so excited to start this new chapter of our lives together on Mersea Island. It feels like coming home.”

Previously voted as one the best places to live in England by The Sunday Times[1], Mersea Island offers the perfect setting for tranquil coastal living and ultimate escapism.
