Developer City & Country has completed the sale of a plot of land to Metis Homes at the former King Edward VII hospital in Midhurst.

The land at the newly named King Edward VII Estate, which has planning consent for 19 new homes, has been earmarked for sale at the historic Arts & Crafts estate.

Having exchanged contracts before the end of 2017, City & Country worked with Winchester-based Metis Homes to amend the original planning consent.

Helen Moore, Managing Director at City & Country, said: “Metis Homes has an outstanding reputation for the quality of the new homes it develops and we are delighted to have completed this sale to them. As a heritage specialist, City & Country’s first priority has been to restore and convert the listed buildings and to reinstate the delightful Gertrude Jekyll gardens. We are very confident that Metis Homes will deliver an excellent range of new homes, to the quality expected of this award winning historic estate.”

“We are looking forward to using our expertise to create a range of outstanding new homes in this stunning area.” said Managing Director at Metis, Adam O’Brien.

The listed former sanitorium and chapel are among several historic buildings at the former hospital, which have already been restored and converted by City & Country.
