THE
JUDGES' REPORT
Springfield Lodge, Hertford Bronze
Award for Best Renovation
'Careful planning of the existing space has seen the creation of
efficient layouts, which retain much of the original character and
proportions of the rooms within the house. This is a gem, being
the result of much thought, skill and innovation to renovate this
building and bring it forward to create modern accommodation in
a traditional setting.'
Extract from the judges' report, What House?
Award
Originally built in circa 1880 as a family home the
external architecture of Springfield Lodge is typical of the late
Victorian period.
Prior to the company acquiring the building it was
used as student bed-sits and had become institutionalised, scruffy
and generally un-cared for. Through our experience and expertise
we were able to come up with a scheme to create seven spacious 2
and 3 bedroom apartments full of character and offering a choice
of styles from modern to traditional.
The scheme was Winner of the ‘Best Apartment’
Award in the Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2002, and received
a Bronze Award for ‘Best Renovation’ in the What House?
Awards 2002.
