Richard Murphy Architects, our Lead Consultant is widely recognised as one of Scotland’s leading architectural design practice. Founded in 1991 the practice built an early reputation for its highly crafted and innovative domestic work within Edinburgh and has since won an unprecedented 19 RIBA Awards.
Over the last 24 years, the practice has developed considerable experience in Housing, Arts, Education, Health, and Masterplanning and has maintained a primary interest and expertise in working creatively with historic buildings.
In recognition of his contribution to architecture Richard Murphy was elected an Academician to the Royal Scottish Academy in 2004 and was awarded an OBE for Services to Architecture by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 2007.
Richard Murphy Architects has been associated with the redevelopment of Donaldson’s College since 2003.The project brings together two areas of great interest for the practice: housing and working creatively with historic buildings.
Harley Haddow, a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, was formed in 1950 and has over 20 years’ experience in delivering sensitively integrated and innovative engineering solutions for a multitude of developments including; new build, refurbishment and the conversion of sensitive historic buildings. They have built a reputation for high quality and extensive project experience to be one of the UK’s foremost Consulting Engineering practices.
Harley Haddow's involvement in Donaldson’s College started back in 2002 and since that time have developed a thorough understanding of the existing Playfair Building’s construction, services and drainage infrastructure which serve it. This in-depth knowledge of the site and its buildings is invaluable.
