INTRODUCTION

The Hall Barns complex is arranged to form three courtyards comprising barns of varying ages, the earliest dating back to the 16th century.

The key buildings have been Listed as Grade II since 1951. They include the magnificent 17th Century double aisled 7 bay barn and a very large 9 bay 19th Century Essex timber barn.

Having been in full use as a working farm and used for cattle the buildings were generally in a poor condition, requiring extensive repairs and renovation.

The tasteful and luxury conversion by City & Country into 5 homes complements and enhances the rural setting, whilst retaining the ‘look’ of farm buildings.

Testimonial
"Unlike many other developers in this field City & Country's response to listed buildings is refreshingly sympathetic. They see the building as a creative challenge rather than an obstacle, they listen pro-actively to what we as conservation architects have to say and are flexible in their approach to projects."

Chris Betts, Partner, Purcell Miller Tritton
