INTRODUCTION

Located in Amwell End on the south-side of Ware, Chadwell Lodge is a Gothic style Listed building on the banks of the 'New River'.

It was previously used as a River Warden's home, however in more recent years it had been subject to serious decline and vandalism.

Through a careful renovation process City & Country were able to return it to its former glory, and recreate a home of some considerable character.

Testimonial
"The key I think to finding a successful use for historic buildings is to combine pragmatism with imagination, and to support that process with expertise and sensitivity. The success which City & Country has brought to some very difficult buildings shows that their approach is not, like other developers to push for a one-size-fits-all solution, but to tailor their work in a way which retains all the character of those buildings while respecting the built heritage."

Dr Lee Proseer, Curator (Historic Buildings), Kensington Palace and Kew Palace
