The News Portsmouth - 12 August 2015
In its previous life, it was used by inmates at Kingston Prison doing time.
But now the jail is shut, this gym equipment has been donated to Portsmouth City Council.
City residents will soon get the opportunity to try out the gear at one of the city’s parks thanks to the donation by City & Country – the prison’s new owner.
Councillor Linda Symes, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport said “High quality kit of this king isn’t cheap and I would like to thank City & Country for its generosity. Everything will now be moved to one of the city’s parks for use and enjoyment by all.
“Our experience from other locations is that it will be used and perhaps the chance to train on authentic prison gym equipment may encourage more people to get fit”
