Developer City & Country has acquired its second site in Bristol, cementing the company’s commitment to the South West. The multi award-winning heritage specialists will be restoring and converting Regent House, Consort House and Imperial Arcade. The buildings, two of them grade II listed, are located in Bedminster, a popular suburb approximately one mile to the south of the city centre.
Both Consort House and Regent House have been serving as office units, with nine retail units available in Imperial Arcade. City & Country will be retaining the existing retail facilities with the addition of new residential dwellings. The developer also has plans to retain some of the commercial spaces.
The acquisition is City & Country’s second Bristol project and follows the recent launch of The General; the former Bristol General Hospital which is being masterfully restored to offer 205 new and converted apartments plus a collection of commercial waterfront units.
Helen Moore, City & Country Managing Director, comments: “I am very pleased to announce the acquisition of these three buildings. City & Country has a long history of sensitively restoring historic and listed buildings, returning them to viable and beneficial use and we are relishing this new challenge here in Bedminster.”
She continues: “We are delighted to have been working in Bristol over the last couple of years restoring The General. Since its launch in September we have been overwhelmed by the positive response and the levels of interest we have received. It is very pleasing to see such enthusiasm for high quality residential development in Bristol and we want to deliver a further and alternative range of outstanding properties in Bedminster.”
Consort House nods to Bristol’s historic past, with the building part of a former three-storey Tobacco factory originally occupied by the Wills family. Regent House comprises an imposing red brick Victorian building which features grand arched windows, whilst there is already parking in place for 197 vehicles to the rear of Imperial Arcade.
When complete, the new homes will bear the hallmarks of all City & Country properties, including a unique combination of restored elevations with stylish contemporary interiors.
The three buildings are situated between Bedminster Parade, Lombard Street and St John’s Road. For more information call 01279 817 882.
