Those looking for a home with character need look no further than the two newly launched Chapel apartments at The Galleries, Brentwood by leading heritage developer, City & Country. The apartments, which are the final two to be released in the converted Chapel are chic and individual spaces in which to live.
Both two bedroom, split level apartments, combine modern designed interiors with the original gothic features of the Chapel to create stunning homes which perfectly blend old with new.
Helen Moore, Managing Director of City & Country commented: “At City & Country we convert properties of great character in to unique, stylish homes, combining modern specifications with character and history. Many people would like to live in a converted property but with the expectations of modern living and the demands on many people’s time, it is often an unrealistic goal. With our many years of specialist experience we are well placed to convert historic buildings such as The Chapel, giving home buyers a unique opportunity to live in a conversion property without having to go through lengthy design and planning process and deal with the financial uncertainties and the stress associated with converting their own property.”
“At The Galleries in Brentwood, we have extensively restored The Chapel which originally served the patients and staff of the former hospital. It has now been transformed into six beautiful homes and we are delighted to launch the latest apartments, No.3 and No.6 which are ideal for young professionals and downsizers. We are also able to offer the Government backed Help to Buy scheme*, assisting buyers to realise their dream of owning a new home.”
No.3 The Chapel, a spacious duplex apartment measures 1,061 sq. ft. and has been cleverly designed to maximise space and light with high ceilings and original stone windows. The generous ceiling heights have been cleverly converted with the addition of a mezzanine floor comprising of a double bedroom, en-suite and dressing room, which overlooks ground level. Glass balustrading further enhances the feeling of space.
No.6 The Chapel, an apartment spread over three floors measures 964 sq. ft. and features a spacious open plan kitchen, living and dining area which is ideal for entertaining as well as a generously proportioned double bedroom and truly unique circular mosaic tiled bath within the space left behind when the tower stair was removed in the 1980s. Upstairs, the second bedroom benefits from an equally impressive circular en-suite shower and leads up to a further large loft room for great storage.
Each apartment within The Chapel has been cleverly designed to maximise space and light offering spacious open plan living with a high quality specification, including cast iron radiators, engineered oak flooring and underfloor heating. The bespoke high gloss kitchens are fully equipped with integrated appliances and stone worktops and the luxurious bathrooms feature contemporary white Vitra sanitaryware and Hansgrohe chrome fittings.
Set within the heart of The Galleries development in Brentwood, Essex, the Grade II Listed Chapel originally served the patients and staff at the hospital. City & Country has spent months converting the building whilst carefully restoring its many original features.
Built in 1853 by HE Kendall, the Grade II Listed Chapel was constructed from Kentish Ragstone in a tudor-gothic theme and designed to stand out amongst the surrounding red brick hospital buildings. The carving and stonework within the chapel was created by master stone mason, George Myers who had a special interest in carving.
Located on the edge of the town, The Galleries provides a quiet oasis whilst being close to the diverse selection of restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops on the high street. Residents can enjoy the vast outdoor space offered by Thorndon Forest and Weald Country Park, each less than two miles away, and Brentwood train station is only a short walk from the development, providing a direct service into London Liverpool Street of just over half an hour.
City & Country is offering all homes under £600,000 for sale with the Government backed Help to Buy scheme, which provides a real and valuable incentive to help homebuyers money go further. Help to Buy is comprised of two schemes – “Equity Loan” where the Government loan up to 20% of the value of a new build home and “Mortgage Guarantee” where lenders are incentivised to make more mortgages available for people with small deposits.
Both new Chapel apartments are priced at £425,000. Other properties at The Galleries are priced from £265,000 to £495,000. The on-site sales suite is open daily between 10am and 5pm. For further information, contact City & Country on telephone: 01277 202122 or visit: www.the-galleries.net.
