When Aaron Wright, who works in the City, decided to return to London after seven years in Dubai, he wanted to find a unique property in a new and undiscovered location.
Having previously owned a number of properties, Mr Wright heard about City & Country through family living in Brentwood, Essex, who told him of the company’s work restoring and converting Grade II listed buildings. He began to browse the company’s portfolio of properties online, developing a keen interest in The Galleries - City & Country’s award-winning development in Brentwood.
Upon visiting Mr Wright was immediately impressed with the high standard and range of properties. However, it was once he saw the outstanding three bedroom apartment that formed part of a converted chapel that he knew he had found the idiosyncratic property he was looking for.
Mr Wright comments: “I had been looking at a number of City & Country properties online for a while, with a particular focus on The Galleries, so I thought I knew what to expect. However, when I stepped into the chapel, it simply took my breath away.”
Built in 1853, the Grade II listed chapel was constructed from Kentish Ragstone in a tudor-gothic theme, whilst the carving and stonework was created by master stone mason, George Myers. Wowed by the original gothic features, Mr Wright immediately purchased the property, deciding to make it the ultimate bachelor pad, installing a range of quirky gadgets. .
Mr Wright’s apartment features soaring ceiling heights, huge carved stone gothic arches, vast windows with wonderful views of London and intricate carved stone angels and other religious motifs decorating the walls.
Also aware of the investment potential of his new home, especially with the planned Crossrail extension to Brentwood, Mr Wright comments: “I do live alone, and it is undoubtedly the ultimate bachelor pad, although I bought it also knowing that it would prove a sound investment. The area is growing in popularity with London commuters, and soon there will be the added Crossrail train connections, which will inevitably force prices up.”
With the process from offer to completion taking just four months, Mr Wright says that he could not have been happier with the service he received from City & Country, remarking: “During the sales process I used City & Country’s recommended solicitors who were exemplary professionals. The sales team really went out of their way time and again to help; no detail or question was too small, whilst their knowledge of the property, the development and the area was phenomenal. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.”
