Balls Park is set in 63 acres of picturesque Grade II listed parkland which features on the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
The existing landscape at Balls Park has evolved through a variety of design influences and management styles over nearly 400 years. No single overriding design style permeates today’s gardens, but features from various periods create interest and variety.
In protecting the Grade II listed park and gardens at Balls Park, City & County aims to recognise and safeguard the historically relevant features of the landscape and to retain the variety of points of interest which have evolved over the last 400 years, for the pleasure of today’s residents.
In respect to the grand heritage of the house, the landscaping to the front of the mansion is designed in a seventeenth century style with grass plats and topiary yew hedges. Behind the house, in the formal garden the south lawn will have a beautiful rejuvenated long border while the Coach House courtyard will be complemented by attractive native species.
To safeguard the ecological biodiversity of the estate and provide unparalleled views and walks for homeowners, the greater park remains intact with its wide variety of native species including 500-year old oaks, mature cedars and limes.
