Great Bentley

Welcome to the Public Consultation pages for Great Bentley, Essex.

The land we are promoting as part of the Tendring District Local Plan process is the land North of Thorrington Road, the land South of Thorrington Road and the land West of Plough Road.

Outline applications for up 75 dwellings on the land north of Thorrington Road and the land west of Plough Road were submitted on the 22nd December 2016. On 30 June 2017 we submitted an outline application for 40 dwellings, a health care centre and additional land for Great Bentley Primary School.

All three applications were refused by Tendring District Council and we are currently undertaking the appeal process. These applications went to a Planning Inquiry that opened on 12 December 2017 and is due to close by May 2018.

The display boards and feedback questionnaires for the consultation events can be found under the documents section.

Three sites have been promoted as part of the Local Plan process, with outline applications having been submitted on land north of Thorrington Road, land west of Plough Road and land south of Thorrington Road.

The Great Bentley area is one of the more sustainable locations in Tendring District and provides an attractive area for people to live and work. The location is highly accessible to nearby settlements and the wider region via the A133 which runs onwards to the A120 and A12, giving access to Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea and the national motorway network. The village also benefits from Great Bentley Railway Station, which is situated on the Sunshine Coast Line, a branch of the Great Eastern Main Line.
