The White Hart Consultation

Earlier this year the Sargeant Family purchased the Grade II listed White Hart public House on Mill Street, St Osyth as part of a long-term strategic vision for the St Osyth Priory Estate, which would transform its complex of historic buildings, parks and gardens into a national tourist attraction.

It was initially agreed with the landlord that The White Hart would remain open with them paying a nominal sum for rent while our plans were devised however sadly due to feedback that since the ownership had changed that some locals would cease to use the pub the landlord decided against remaining in situ.

Our expert team of consultants have undertaken a number of studies to better understand its history and development, its historic fabric and the different ways in which it could be comprehensively refurbished and enhanced.

Following the public consultation feedback, which was overwhelmingly positive towards the retention of the pub and restaurant with overnight accommodation our proposals reflect the desires of the local community and we believe will provide an improved and convenient local facility that will also have the benefit of assisting in the long-term vision of making the Priory Estate an attractive tourist destination.

The application has now been submitted and the reference at Tendring District Council is 11/01132/FUL.
