Welcome to King Edward VII
King Edward VII Hospital Estate Consultation
Welcome to the consultation website for City & Country Group’s proposals to restore the historic buildings and gardens of the King Edward VII Hospital Estate.
In Autumn 2009, restoration specialist City & Country Group was selected to bring forward plans to secure a long-term and viable solution for the future of the King Edward VII hospital estate. Since then, our team has been working hard to understand the history of the estate and the extent of the work required to restore the historic buildings and gardens to their former glory.
We held a public exhibition at the hospital to showcase our current proposals to the local community on Friday 11 June and Saturday 12 June. Over 300 local people visited the exhibition and we are grateful to all those who gave up their time to view and comment on our proposals.
The information on display at the exhibition can be viewed here.
If you would like to comment on our proposals, a comments form can be downloaded here. Please return completed forms to the address on the second page by 30 June.
For more information about the exhibition or our proposals please call our community information line on 0800 072 1176 (9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday).
Background
The Estate has had an unfortunate recent history, with failed plans, administration and receivership having put the restoration that this well-loved local landmark deserves on hold. Having now laid empty for seven years it is essential to find a viable solution to protect these nationally important historic buildings and landscape. Your comments and feedback are very important to us as they will allow the development team to consider these findings and incorporate them into the final solution, where possible.
In addition, we will be regularly updating the website in order to keep you informed of the progress being made towards submitting a planning application for what we are determined will be an award winning, sensitively designed, carefully constructed, high quality development which will secure the long term future of the historic assets of the former King Edward VII hospital at the heart of the local community.
