Local Brentwood Construction Site Worker Wins Award

After 20 years’ service, restoring run down old buildings in Essex and converting them into fabulous new homes and offices, an award has been granted to local Brentwood construction site manager, Alan Paddick, who is affectionately known as Paddy.

Essex’s leading restoration and conversion specialists, City & Country Group has presented Paddy with the company’s coveted ‘Long Service Award’ which marks over 20 years of service to the company and his contribution to preserving the continued heritage of Essex.

Paddy started working at City & Country Group as a labourer when he was just 16 years old and he has since worked his way up to site manager. He is currently managing work at the landmark development, ‘The Galleries’ in Brentwood, where the old Victorian hospital is being restored and transformed into stunning mews houses and apartments, set around award winning landscaped courtyard gardens.

Paddy, originally from Essex, comments: “I have never worked or wanted to work at another company, so it means a great deal to me to receive this award. I enjoy working on projects which are always different and never straightforward, and at City & Country Group I am constantly challenged by new and exciting buildings. When dealing with buildings of this historic importance it is essential to have very high standards as well as quality craftsmanship, and I love that the team is made up of the best people in the business. I am very lucky to be able to get so much fulfilment and enjoyment out of my work and colleagues.”

The Galleries is a Grade II listed building and comprises a number of beautiful, red brick buildings, which have been carefully restored and converted into a collection of houses and apartments.
