Donaldson’s is the Perfect City Centre Home for the Pritchards

Bruce and Tricia Pritchard were looking for an Edinburgh home nearby to family and friends. The couple, both originally from Edinburgh, split time between the city and their working life in England.

Bruce explains: “We come back to Edinburgh regularly to see family and we were looking for a home that would also be solid investment.”

Having planned to purchase an apartment, Bruce and Tricia viewed a range of Georgian and Victorian homes throughout Edinburgh’s West End. However, they also wanted to look at Donaldson’s as they had been keeping a close eye on its redevelopment.

“The redevelopment of Donaldson’s has been a bit of an Edinburgh legend for some time. It’s such an iconic building and it’s been much anticipated. Buildings like this become part of the DNA of a city. It’s so important to protect them and it would have been a huge shame to have let the building fall into disrepair. Seeing it restored to such a high standard is magnificent.” says Bruce.

He continues: “After looking at apartments in the Playfair Building, we actually fell in love with one of the lodge properties located in the grounds. It was perfect for us as it had the right amount of bedrooms and a private living area. It also has a fantastic view of the building.”

Located in West Coates and minutes from the city centre, Donaldson’s was perfectly positioned for the family. Tricia adds:

“For us travelling back and forth to the city its location is perfect whether we drive, fly or take the train. Donaldson’s is a striking conversion and it’s set the bar very high. We have access to the beautiful open grounds and there are very few city centre homes that can offer such an abundance of outside space.”
